One of our favorite part of the year is the season of the strawberries. There are a lot of reasons why we love them, not just they are sweet and healthy, but they also have a lot of beauty benefits. They are rich with Vitamin C which good for your skin as it fights of free radicals that steal oxygen from healthy cells and destroy collagen, encouraging pronounced lines to appear on the skin, Vitamin A, D, K, E, folic acid aids in cell regeneration and the production of new cells in our bodies.
Benefits of using strawberries you can see on your hair, skin.face and of course you body weight.
Skin lightening. The juice is very efficient in lightening blemishes and acne scars. Strawberry juice contains skin lightening extracts as well as ellagic acid which reduces dark spots on skin. Simply apply the juice to the dark spots on your skin using a cotton ball and rinse thoroughly afterward.
Anti-aging. Strawberries contain the anti-oxidant ellagic acid, which prevents collagen destruction—one of the major causes of wrinkle formation. Ellagic acid has a photoprotective effect that works against UV damage by stifling the production of MMP, which are enzymes that contribute in destruction of collagen. This prevents wrinkles from forming on the skin, thereby providing a healthy supple look to your face.
No more oily skin. Rich in vitamin C, these fruits can be used to make excellent face masks to fight oily skin, as well as nourish and revitalize your skin. Strawberries are acidic in nature and this is effective to remove the excess sebum on skin.
Say goodbye to acne. Notorious acne caused by excess accumulation of sebum can be cleared off with the nutrients in this fruit. The acidic nature of strawberries enables it to remove excess oil in the skin.
UV skin protection. The powerful anti-oxidant, ellagic acid is very useful as it protects the skin from harmful UV rays. A research conducted by researchers at a university in Korea discovered that mice that were exposed to UV rays after being given ellagic acid treatment showed reduced wrinkle formation as compared to mice that weren’t given the treatment before exposure.
Under-eye puffiness. Strawberries contain amazing astringent properties that help treat puffy eyes. They also contain alpha hydroxy acid, which makes the skin look smooth and young .Just like you do with cucumbers, select big ones and cut them into large slices, then apply them to your eyes while lying down. Relax for 15 minutes before removing the slices and enjoy the amazing results.
Facial cleanser. These fruits are an excellent natural exfoliant, which is essential in removing dead cells that make up the upper surface of our skin. They contain salicylic acid that helps clear away dead cells, as well as inhibit the growth of those notorious blackheads.
Prevent Hair Fall. Strawberries are great sources of vitamin C – a nutrient that encourages iron absorption and promotes hair growth and it has also been found that a deficiency of this nutrient can lead to split ends. The vitamin in strawberries can also treat dandruff.
Strawberries are also loaded with silica, which is known to prevent baldness and help in hair growth.
You can prepare a strawberry hair mask that can help you deal with your hair problems. Mix strawberry paste (2 berries) with extra virgin coconut oil and honey (1 tablespoon each). Apply to your scalp and leave it on for 20 minutes, post which you can wash your hair with cold water. This must be done on a clean scalp, usually in the mornings after your bath. This mask also prevents scalp fungal growth – the magnesium in the berries takes care of this problem.
Luxuri Skin Scrub. Make a skin scrub by mixing 1/2 a cup of sugar, 4-5 ripe strawberries and 3 teaspoons of olive oil. Generously massage your skin with this scrub before you take a bath. Your skin will look fresh, soft and hydrated with effective results.
Easy face mask for moisturizing with strawberries, yogurt and honey
1 tablespoon yogurt
1 tablespoon honey
Honey is great moisturizer, skin brightener and lightener, anti bacterial and antiseptic properties that help destroy germs on skin surface. Yogurt will nourishes and water dry skin, will nourishes and rejuvenates withered skin, lubricates dry skin while gently moisturizing it. If you have very dry peeling skin, use full fat yogurt and massage the face mask for 2 minutes before allowing it to settle.
Using the back of a fork, mash strawberries together.
Combine all the ingredients thoroughly in a small mixing bowl.
Smear the mixture onto your face and neck and leave it on for as long as you can, or until it completely dries up.
Using warm water, rinse off, tackling the sides of your face and under your chin especially. Splash your face with cold water to close pores. Pat dry with a clean towel.
